Ste. Genevieve's Wine Country

Family owned Cave Vineyard and winery is a must stop destination on your tour of Ste. Genevieve's Wine Country! Cave offers its guests a wide array of award winning, estate grown Strussione Wines all of which are available to be enjoyed from the winery's outdoor pavilion that overlooks some of the most scenic, rolling vineyards in the county, or in the cave! Begin by sampling their wines in the tasting room, then ride the tram to the cave for an afternoon of live music, picnic lunches, or just to cool off on a hot summer day. Picnic baskets are welcome, or should you desire, one can be prepaired for you in the tasting room.

Located in the western part of Ste. Genevieve County, owners Jack and Joal Russell pride themselves in offering distinctive handcrafted wines and microbrewed beers in a relaxed atmosphere. Their tasting room and patio features a rustic country setting high above the Saline Creek Valley. A beautifully refurbished 1860s log cabin adjacent to the tasting room serves as a two-room Bed & Breakfast for guests on weekends. Guests may sample cheese and sausage from the tasting room, bring a picnic lunch, take a hike on nearby trails, or just sit by the bonfire on a chilly evening. Limited tastings are always free and the staff is eager to share their wine expertise with guests.

Established in 1990 by Hank and Jackie Johnson, Chaumette is the Midwest's premier  winery destination, offering a unique and memorable experience for every guest. Their award winning wines may be experienced in the eloquent tasting room that houses the winery's own Grapevine Grill. Widely known for their masterful menus, The Grill  serves entrees using only fresh, seasonal ingredients that support Missouri's local food producers and may be enjoyed in the artful dining areas inside, or on the sweeping porch that overlooks scenic hills and vineyards. A gift shop and art gallery, along with live music in the warm months is just a sampling of your total wine country experience at Chaumette. Their facilities are available for weddings, corporate & private events, and the all faith  chapel, St. Vincent's-in-the-Vineyard, may be reserved for private ceremonies. In addition, the winery provides a full service day spa for the enjoyment of their guest as well as modern, French Colonial style Villas that may be purchased or rented.

As Ste. Genevieve County's largest wine producer, Crown's dominance in the wine industry is surpassed only by its impressive array of fine, hand-crafted wines, beers and distilled spirits. Widely aclaimed for its Nortons and other varietals, Crown's attention to detail in the production of all its products will be evident with your first taste. Handcrafting small lots of over twenty different wines, Ste. Genevieve's oldest winery continually produces award winning varietal wines and an array of fruit wines for your enjoyment. Winemaking comes naturally for this fourth generation family, crafting many varieties from their own vineyards just west of town. Their tasting room is located in the heart of Ste. Genevieve's National Historic District and provides a pleasant respite for guests under the shade of their grape arbor, or browse their wine related gift shop while tasting a sample of your favorite wine. Numerous historic attractions are within easy walking distance of the winery along with most Bed and Breakfast Inns, restaurants, historic homes, and antique shops in the Historic District.

Among the rolling hills and vineyards of Ste. Genevieve's Wine Country lies the newest family owned vineyard in St. Francois County, Sand Creek Vineyard & Winery. Established in 2002, Sand Creek has recently opened their spacious new tasting with its handmade railing, beautiful double doors, large stone bar, and heavenly cupola. Be sure to taste their nine distinctive wines while enjoying a picnic lunch and listening to live, seasonal entertainment on the large, firepitted veranda. The winery also has sausage, cheese, crackers, chocolates, and draft & bottled beers available for purchase. The tasting room is available for private parties and special events.

The Barrens Winery is located northeast of Perryville (just 10 minutes South of Ste. Genevieve) on Missouri HWY 51 North. Secluded behind the trees, there is always a gentle breeze blowing through the porch for you to enjoy a glass of wine, a bite to eat or live entertainment. The Barrens features Chambourcin, Traminette, Vignoles, Embarrass, Barrens Red, Passion, Late Harvest Chambourcin and original Lime, Strawberry, Sangria Winearitas. The Barrens' warm, inviting atmosphere is sure to please all!

This family owned winery sits amid the vineyards providing a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a bottle of their red, white or blended wine, or a glass of cold, premium beer. In the tasting room, with its antique, turn-of-the-century bar, sample wines while you browse through a variety of unique gifts and apparel. An assortment of fresh meats, cheeses, crackers, fruit and chocolates is also available for purchase. A tranquil pond adjacent to the patio is the perfect gathering place for you and friends to enjoy live entertainment from April through October - or get cozy in front of the tasting room's fireplace during the cool months. Weingarten Vineyard offers a gorgeous 20,000 square foot facility featuring a 3-story stone fireplace, granite tasting bar, gift shop, deli, reception hall, meeting rooms, and sensational views. While sampling from their wide collection of wine, visitors can enjoy views of the vineyard, lake, and beautiful Ste. Genevieve County. Whether sitting inside the Main Tasting Room with its floor to ceiling windows or choose to sit outside on one of the covered decks they're are confident you will find a comfortable place to enjoy wine with friends. Weingarten Vineyard specialize in two Missouri wines, Norton - a deep, dry red wine and Vivant a semi-dry sweet white wine. Everyone's tastes differ, so in addition to wines they offer a varied collection of red and white wines as well as Weingarten microbrew beer. Visitors can enjoy their delightful deli menu that features hot panini sandwiches, oven fired pizzas, and a variety of breads and cheeses.
