French Colonial America
French Colonial America is where our French and Creole story congeals into a living, teachable craft. Their mission is wonderfully direct: preserve and promote French and Creole culture and the Mississippi Valley’s Franco-Spanish colonial history. And they do it the best way possible—by putting you inside the evidence. FCA owns and operates the Centre for French Colonial Life Museum Campus, a tight constellation of four historic houses plus an education/exhibits facility, which is basically a time machine with docent hours. While tourin, you’ll mutter to yourself, “Wait—this is in Missouri?” because it’s not a reenactment of Frenchness; it’s the real architectural grammar of French colonial life, still standing, still teaching. If you want the why behind the shutters, the how behind the vertical-log construction, and the human story behind the dates—this is your doorway.
