12 Artisans, Craftspeople Re-enact the Colonial Era
A family-friendly and free event featuring Colonial living history come to life! Explore the traditions of the “School of the Soldier.” This is a fully packed weekend of lectures and camaraderie with plenty of events to see.
On Saturday, attend a public heritage auction of discovered “desirables” – memorabilia, collectibles, “accouterments,” utensils, and “watcha-may-call-its.” In addition, Ste. Geneviève has the greatest concentration of original French colonial buildings in North America. Plus it is the only surviving French colonial village in the United States.
9:00 a.m. – Morris S. Arnold talks about The Women of Arkansas Post at the Center for French Colonial Life.
10:30 a.m. – Hairan Zuchelli discusses Parallels of 18th Century Fashion.
Noon – Suzanne Corbett on The Batterie de Cuisine from Firepit to Stove.
2:30 p.m. – Public Heritage Auction – Jour de Fete site.
6:00 p.m. – Pot Luck Dinner at the Jour de Fete site.
At Ecole du Soldat we have activities, clothing, and demonstrate living skills of that early era.
