About Pat’s: Pat Schaaf has been a fixture in downtown Sainte Geneviève for a while now. Growing up around Pat’s cooking, her sons caught the bug and have opened venues of their own. DeWayne has three well-lauded eateries in Cape Girardeau: Celebrations, Ebb and Flow Fermentations, and Goose and Gander. Kenny just took over Brix Urban Winery up the block from Pat’s Pastries, and his cooking is featured in regular events there. Both Pat’s and Brix feature craft brews from DeWayne’s Ebb and Flow in Cape Girardeau.
Aside from this lovely story about her family’s successes, Pat’s little pastry shop is just about as homey as it gets. It’s in the heart of the downtown action next to Audubon’s Hotel and Restaurant and right across the street from Sara’s Ice Cream. As is mentioned, the little café starts the day serving pastries, traditional breakfast options, and a no-frills coffee and transitions into a soup and sandwich lunch spot during the lunch hour. Featuring a weekly special item that ranges from BLTs to curries, and even Gumbo, Pat’s is a great option when you’re in town.
