Hotels & Inns

What we lack in big name brands we make up for in historic significance.

Our downtown historic district is littered with history, most of which is relegated to tours during business hours.  What most don’t expect is the hotels and inns that also proliferate our historic district are themselves historic.   The Southern Hotel, pictured in the mid 1800s to the right, is still in operation, as are many others including Audubon’s Hotel, Main Street Inn, Dr. Hertich House, and the Inn Ste. Gemme Bauvais, with the Main Street Inn, Audubon’s, and the Dr. Hertich House undergoing the most recent renovations.

What’s so magical about these properties is their location nestled in the sleepy little historic district, where nighttime strolls are encouraged to take advantage of the simple beauty of the town.  Most of them come with little meditative courtyard landscapes just begging to be captured by a master plein air painter.  It makes the perfect place to sip in your coffee, but soak in the silence after a deep, restful sleep.  Remember, the name of the game in Ste. Geneviève is decompression.  You’re here to slip out of your bustling life, and step into a contemplative space that eschews time.  If there’s any work you need to do, it’s working on renewing your spirit while you’re here.
