EVENTS

Ste. Genevieve is a tiny town blessed with many events. We like to party. It’s in our blood, and something that marks a long-standing tradition dating back to our French roots. In fact, we’re one of the only towns in the country that adheres to a pretty robust calendar of French heritage events. Our oldest, and most historic in connection being La Guiannée and the King’s Ball (Queen’s ball on leap years). In both, you’ll find interesting connections to Louisiana bayou traditions like Mardi Gras, especially in the rural towns outside of New Orleans like Mamou and Iota. In fact, it’s said that the last line in the Iota Mardi Gras song is the first line in our Guiannée.

Our annual events list doesn’t just cover our French past, though. Our annual events do a great job of catering to a broad range of interests that take advantage of the beauty, the safety, and the walkability of our town. From our Garden Walk put on by the Master Gardeners, our Living in Ste. Genevieve House Tours, our Spring For Down Syndrome ATV gathering, Pecanapalooza, the County Fair, the Holiday Christmas Festival, and events like the Cookie Crumb Trail and Build a Bouquet put on by Downtown Ste. Gen, we are chock full of things to do from weekend to weekend throughout the year.

We’re not just stuck in the past, neither.  Nor are we just big on annual events.  Our local wineries, restaurants, and bars serve up some serious fun on a weekly basis set against some of the most unique backdrops anywhere. The Orris theater is pound for pound one of the best music venues anywhere.  Charleville Winery and Brewery will knock your socks off with the foods, views and brews the offer.  Audubon’s Biergarten on a sunny May afternoon is as good as it gets for low-key live music outdoors.  Please take a look at all we have to offer and see what aligns with your visit.  Jouir!
