Genevieve, MO 63670 Phone: (573) 608-5002 About Pat’s:  Pat Schaaf has been a fixture in downtown Sainte Geneviève for a while now.  Growing up around Pat’s cooking, her sons caught the bug and have opened venues of their own.  DeWayne has three well-lauded eateries in Cape Girardeau: Celebrations, Ebb and Flow Fermentations, and Goose and Gander.  Kenny just took over Brix Urban Winery up the block from Pat’s Pastries, and his cooking is featured in regular events there.  Both Pat’s and Brix feature craft brews from DeWayne’s Ebb and Flow in Cape Girardeau. Aside from this lovely story about her family’s successes, Pat’s little pastry shop is just about as homey as it gets.  It’s in the heart of the downtown action next to Audubon’s Hotel and Restaurant and right across the street from Sara’s Ice Cream.  As is mentioned, the little café starts the day serving pastries, traditional breakfast options, and a no-frills coffee and transitions into a soup and sandwich lunch spot during the lunch hour.  Featuring a weekly special item that ranges from BLTs to curries, and even Gumbo, Pat’s is a great option when you’re in town. About The Kozy:  The Kozy is one side of a complex that includes bar/restaurant, The Dew Drop Inn, the cozy event space, The Mill Room, and an outdoor game area for kids to run around while their parents take a load off.  Both restaurants serve fun twists on American classics, with ample opportunity to tweak your order towards health or gluttony.  The Kozy, however, is more of a breakfast joint from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m., and it’s great at what it does.  Get a stack of fluffy blueberry pancakes why don’t ya, or turn your attention to something with a more rarified air, like the Smoked Turkey Benedict.   Read more…
