Nested comfortably in the shadow of the Sainte Geneviève Catholic Church, the Sainte Geneviève Art Center & Museum at 310 Merchant Street provides a space that illuminates the city’s important role in the country’s art heritage. Housed in a stately Norman-Revival stone building originally built in 1934 in preparation for the city’s bicentennial celebration, this space now showcases both the history of Sainte Geneviève Art Colony alongside the talented crop of artists that call this city home. Visitors can explore exhibits that span from the regionalist art movements rooted in Ste. Geneviève’s past to contemporary works in painting, fiber arts, ceramics, wood sculpture, and more. The Art Center is also home to the Ste. Geneviève Art Guild, an inclusive community of artists and arts enthusiasts. Founded in 1983, the Guild hosts regular member exhibitions, educational programs, workshops for all ages, and outreach efforts that connect the arts to the wider community.
